Design Your Inner Temple
fli exercise
Use your imagination to create your inner temple and visualize (visit) it regularly.
I had a little epiphany during meditation (as it usually goes) about building my own imaginary dream space that I can drift off to when I sit down to meditate - a place that feels beautiful, peaceful, spiritual, and just for me.
The words “inner temple” entered my mind from my subconscious, and I realized it was more common after I started digging into it.
Let’s dive in.
what
An inner temple can be described as:
a sacred space within your mind
that you can connect to at any moment
where you can feel total peace and comfort with yourself and your inner being
where you can seek guidance from spirit
and where you are your higher self (not just where you connect with your higher self, but where you live in this space as her)
why
I think this idea came in because I had been wanting to feel.. more intentional and connected to spirit.
When I sit down to do my meditation as part of my morning rhythm, I want to take it to a deeper level.
I want to truly feel everything I desire to be, be surrounded by, and be more at one with spirit/my guides/source energy.
Then.. I started to realize that this place that I want to go to is where I want to live my life from, and the perspective I want to see the world through.
It’s like operating in this 3D reality, but living in my dream world as my higher self at the same time.
And what a beautiful place to live!
Don’t you want to try it!?
Let’s chat a little about how to start..
how
Firstly, there are no limits to creating your inner temple.
Make it as big, beautiful, opulent, and outrageous as you’d like it to be.
This is your ultimate aesthetic, your dream, all of your favorite things, and beyond.
Think about where it is, the environment outside, the floors, walls, decor, scents, sounds, the feel of the air on your skin, what you’re going to sit on, etc.
Take time to let your imagination run wild and free.
Seriously, make some time for this and almost on the daily.
Put it in your rhythm/routine and set a timer if you have to.
Doing this regularly will help to create a clear mental picture and vibe of your space and let you sink into a feeling of connection to it.
Embrace your elevated emotions.
This is such an important part.
How do you feel here?
Meaning.. how do you want to feel?
Maybe you want to feel confident AF, excited, inspired, beautiful, fit, healthy, sexy, vibrant, regal, all-knowing..
And then sink in, baby.
Savor each of those feelings and emotions as they flood into you.
When you do this, you strengthen these wonderful neural pathways in your brain, allowing you to truly operate in this way, not just in your inner temple, but in your reality.
A little tip..
Correct your posture.
When you practice this sitting/standing in your inner temple, physically do so with good posture.
Allow your chakras to align and energy to flow more smoothly.
It automatically makes you feel better physically and mentally.. more aligned, confident, and beautiful.
Start building your reality to match.
For me, this is the most fun :)
Whatever aesthetic, style, feel, vibe, etc. of your inner temple that you can physically find in your daily life, start incorporating it in your environment immediately.
Anything and everything you can think of.
Become a collector of everything that feels like your inner temple.
Make a vision board that has a similar feel that can help you identify things you want to bring into your physical space.
This is such a fun and beautiful way to remind yourself of your inner temple at all times of the day.
For example..
My temple has a Mediterranean / tropical / desert kind of vibe.
I envision tons of supple, sun-loving plants and flowers, and natural hues like light, sandy stones.. grainy, sun-bleached woods, subtle pastels, and small pops of bold, vibrant colors.
So.. we got some indoor and outdoor plants that feel like that to me, and I put them in pots that are the sandy, stone color that I’m loving.
I’ve made my own home sprays with palo santo and ylang ylang for a floral and woody scent.
I’m also embracing everything that’s made of natural materials (like leaving our wooden cutting boards, cooking utensils, and woven place mats out on display).
Imagine living from your inner temple.
This is one I’m really working on, but I think it’s such an amazing idea.
For the things you have to do during the day, like laundry, dishes, cooking, working, etc., imagine doing it in a space in your inner temple.
And remember.. no limits here.
For example, I’m imagining taking my shower under a waterfall with pristine water, totally encapsulated by tropical plants and flowers, with the sun peaking through just the tops of the beautiful trees, standing on smooth, sturdy, stone, and having the most healthy and naturally delicious smelling oils and soaps cleanse my body and my aura.
When I cook, I want to imagine I’m standing behind a big, beautiful stone counter on a mountain side, in an open, outdoor kitchen overlooking diverse, rich fields of flourishing food in orchards, vineyards, and gardens, and the air whipping up from the open sea below.
I can smell the salty air and herbs in the breeze, and feel the warmth of the sun on the counter that’s full of fresh foods, all ready to be creatively prepared to fully nourish my body.
This might sound a little much, but what I’ve noticed is that when I place my attention on these beautiful things and let my imagination run wild, I enjoy the process of doing those things so much more and my mind is not wandering on lesser thoughts like self-criticism, self-limiting beliefs, and reminiscing on past pains.
all in all
This exercise is like a combo of practicing meditation and visualization at the same time.
The beautiful thing about it is that it’s a simple and enjoyable way to bring intention to a practice that we can do as often as we’d like.
It’s a way to feel connected to spirit.
It’s a way to step in and be our higher self.
It’s a way to create evidence of this connection and being in our day-to-day by integrating it into our environment as well as our minds by bringing more awareness to it.
And finally, this exercise is a way to strengthen
the spiritual muscles by building an intentional practice of spiritual connection,
the mental muscles by carving out deeper pathways of positivity and elevated emotions,
and the physical muscles of consistency and devotion to yourself.
I hope you enjoy exercising ;)
I’d love to know what revelations and experiences you have!
stay fli!
